Gwendolyn Denise Epps

Sep1 (Fri) @ 1:00 PM

Fifth Baptist Church

OBITUARY GWENDOLYN "GWEN" DENISE EPPS was born on November 25, 1956, to the late Franklin and Evelyn "Novella" Epps. Gwendolyn was the oldest of five children. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Franklin and Rodney Epps. Gwendolyn accepted Christ at an early age and joined Beulah Baptist Church in Chesterfield, County. Gwen loved to sing there and joined the Young Adult Choir. On April 12, 1998, she joined Fifth Baptist where she has been a faithful and dedicated member for 25 years. She loved her Fifth Baptist church family and her Pastors especially "Pastor Earl". Gwen attended and graduated from John F. Kenney High School in 1975 where she served on the majorette squad for four years. Gwen could twirl a baton and was proud of it and loved the cheers she would receive from the stands. Gwen's career started as an Office Clerk for Richfood Dairy in August 1980 where she was later promoted to Accounts Payable Clerk. She served for 37 years as a dedicated employee until her last day on November 2, 2017, which was the final closing of the doors "she shut it down". Gwen was a designer by rights. She made everything she wore. If the pattern didn't fit exactly what she needed she would remake the pattern, a trick taught by Mom, the real streamless in the family. She leaves to cherish her memories her two loving sisters, Tria Thompson and Lanita "Franette" Epps; her adored and devoted nephew, Tuan Thompson and great nephew, Kyrie Thompson, whom she spoiled with gifts every time she shopped and would sing him to sleep every chance she got, and he loved it; her adored brother-in-law, Roger "Toney" Thompson; dedicated aunts, Jerline Johnson and Reva Wilson; and devoted friend, Cheryl Grooms, her BFF and Miami Dolphins #2 fan because she was #1. Gwen loved her family, and they were ALL very important to her and very much a part of her everyday world. They were all devoted. She will be greatly missed but never forgotten; for she will always be in our hearts. n ecie,ic o/p9 Organ Prelude Mr. Kevin Puller Processional Hymn of Assurance Mr. Kevin Puller Scripture Reading Old Testament Reverend Charlene Gresham Job 19:23-26 New Testament Reverend Carolyn Pegram Thessalonians 4:13-18 Prayer of Consolation Dr. Ricardo L. You've shared my joys and sorrows, My laughter and my tears. You've been my inspiration, As we grew up through the years. When we were little children We laughed and played together; Then growing up you stood by me, Through good and stormy weather. There's something God has given us, That's more than family; He's placed a love for you, my sister, Deep down in the heart of me. New Start My new start in heaven What a day it is for me Just walking beside Jesus Such a glorious victory Now I'm walking a new pathway With Angels spreading the sky All worries are now over No fears, not even a sigh Now my new home is in heaven I'm rejoicing a new melody I'm so honored to be in heaven What a treasure fit for me You will forever reign in our mind, heart, and soul. — Tanja McPhee

“Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God; believe also in me. My Father’s house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am.”
